Combining discounts in one campaign

Every campaign can hold more than one discount. A shopper can then hit an Order Discount and a Gift with Purchase at the same time, through one code or one link, because the campaign is still a single Shopify discount.

Setting it up

  1. Open Hype Campaigns and click Create New Campaign.
  2. Enter a Campaign name. Either pick one Discount type, or turn on the Multiple discounts switch at the top right of the section and click Add Discount for each discount you want.
  3. Choose a Campaign type and a discount method as usual, then click Next and configure the campaign.
  4. To add a discount later, open the campaign's Campaign name & type step. Its discounts are listed there with an Add Discount button; click it and choose a type. The new discount gets its own step.
  5. Any mix of the five types is allowed, and you can add the same type twice.

With one discount the navigation reads Common settings, Discount, Campaign blocks. With more, the discount steps are numbered Discount #1, Discount #2 and so on.

Common settings versus per-discount settings

Common settings is labelled "Applies to all discounts" and holds the campaign-wide configuration you would otherwise set on each discount:

  • Purchase type
  • Customer eligibility, including Logged-in customers only
  • Maximum discount rules (code campaigns only)
  • Combinations
  • Sales channels
  • Active dates

Fill these in once. Every setting is described in common campaign settings.

Everything specific to a discount — its target markets, its product and collection targeting, its rules, tiers or gifts — stays on that discount's own page, configured exactly as it would be in a single-discount campaign.

Managing the discounts in a campaign

Each entry's menu offers Remove discount, Disable discount and Enable discount. Disabling leaves the configuration in place but takes that discount out of the campaign, which is a quick way to test a promotion in parts without rebuilding it.

How they apply together

The campaign is still one Shopify discount, so all its discounts arrive at checkout as one unit. Within that unit:

  • every product-level discount that qualifies applies,
  • the best order-level discount wins if more than one qualifies,
  • shipping discounts run separately.

Order Discount is order-level. Multi Products Discount and Volume Discount are product-level. Gift with Purchase adds product-level discounts on the gift lines. Cart Goals can produce all three, depending on which rewards its tiers hold.

When to use it

Pairings that work well:

  • An Order Discount for a sitewide percentage, plus a Gift with Purchase above a spend threshold.
  • A Volume Discount for bulk pricing, plus Cart Goals with a free-shipping tier.
  • A Multi Products Discount on a couple of collections, plus an Order Discount on the rest.

If you only need two unrelated promotions to run side by side, you do not need this — two separate campaigns with the right Combinations boxes ticked do the same job and can be scheduled and reported on independently. Put several discounts in one campaign when the offers really are one promotion that should be turned on, scheduled and shared as a single thing.

Limits and gotchas

  • Campaigns created before October 2026 cannot take a second discount. They were built on a per-type discount engine and keep running on it unchanged. Their Campaign name & type step shows the type without an Add Discount button; build a new campaign to combine discounts.
  • You cannot schedule the discounts separately. One set of Active dates covers the whole campaign.
  • You cannot give them different customer eligibility or sales channels. Those live in Common settings by design.
  • Target markets are still per discount, unlike the other shared settings. Check each one if you run market-specific pricing.
  • The whole campaign is one code or one link. There is no way to give Discount #2 its own code.
  • Only the best order-level discount applies. Two Order Discounts in the same campaign will not add up — configure the value you actually want on one of them.
  • A campaign with no discounts added cannot be saved. Hype shows "Add at least one discount".
  • Combinations still control the outside world only. They decide whether this campaign stacks with other discounts on your store, not how its own discounts interact.
