Syncing smart collections

Hype refreshes your Shopify smart collections every 4 hours. If you target a campaign at a smart collection and its contents have just changed, you can force a refresh with Sync Now in Settings instead of waiting.
Why this exists
A smart collection is defined by rules, not by a fixed list of products, so its membership changes on its own: a product goes out of stock, a price crosses a threshold, a tag is added, and the collection's contents change without anyone touching the collection.
When a campaign targets a smart collection, Hype has to know which products are in it right now in order to apply the discount to the right items. It fetches that membership from Shopify on a schedule rather than on every request, which keeps your storefront fast.
Sync now
- In Hype Discounts, go to Settings.
- Find the Sync smart collections section. Its description reads Automatically synced every 4 hours, with the help text: Hype fetches your Shopify smart collections every 4 hours. You can sync manually to reflect any latest changes.
- Click Sync Now.
The sync runs in the background. It queues a refresh of your campaigns against your current collections, so it is not instant — give it a moment and then reload the campaign.
When to sync manually
- You just changed a smart collection's rules and want the campaign to reflect it immediately.
- You added or removed products that a smart collection's rules would pick up.
- A campaign targeting a smart collection is discounting the wrong products, or missing products it should cover.
You do not need to sync after editing a campaign in Hype. Campaign changes are pushed to Shopify as you save them.
Manual collections are not affected
A manual collection has a fixed list of products, so its membership only changes when you change it. Those changes reach Hype through Shopify's normal product and collection updates and do not depend on this 4-hour job.
If a sync does not fix it
If products are still wrong after a sync, work through these in order:
- Confirm the product actually matches the smart collection's rules in the Shopify admin. If Shopify does not list it in the collection, Hype cannot either.
- Confirm the campaign targets the collection you think it does, and that the product is not caught by an exclusion rule on the campaign.
- Clear the storefront cache. Campaign data is cached for up to 10 minutes; see Clearing the cache.
- Confirm the campaign is active and covers the shopper's market.
